Nascar 2009 Sprint Cup FrequenciesPosted by Miguel in Site News & Info, tags: 2009, broadcast, cup, frequencies, nascar, racing, rpu, scanner, scanners, sprintThere is a huge business in Nascar where fans monitor their favorite drivers and teams while at the race and one of the biggest pains to me is paying a ton of money to rent a race scanner when in reality the frequencies are public domain and if you have a scanner you can program these frequencies in and really enjoy the race experience! Suggestion, Nascar is LOUD if you are going to try to listen to your scanner at the track, invest in a noise canceling headset, no you don’t have to spend 500 dollars at the Bose store, but a cheap iPod or Walkman headset isn’t going to cut it. Just something to consider.

Disney on Ice 2009 – Disneyland AdventurePosted by Miguel in Site News & Info, tags: 2009, disney on ice, disneyland adventure, ice skating, phoenix, us airways centerThe annual and traditional Lombana Family outing this year was Disney on Ice- A Disneyland Adventure. Another great show where this years theme was Disney’s Incredibles go to Disneyland as a family and encounter an evil plot by their arch nemesis from the movie Syndrome to take over the ‘Happiest Place on Earth’ and make it his new evil empire. As always a great show, my presale tickets had us in the front row on the ice and that gave Hagan another opportunity to say a personal ‘Thank You’ to our favorite mouse for a great Saturday afternoon. Billy Joel & Elton John Tour 2009Posted by Miguel in Site News & Info, tags: 2009, billy joel, concert photography, elton john, face 2 face, nikon s610, phoenix, tour, us airwaysI was able to see this show back in 2002 thanks to Carrie who got tix as a super secret surprise for me and back then I thought I would never again get the chance to see these two legends of the rock world perform together again. Thankfully I did get to see them, March 26th, 2009 here in Phoenix, the Face 2 Face tour again blew me away. My only comment is that with the incredible catalog of music that these two guys have between them, Elton really did the crowd an injustice by performing some of his deeper tracks that even I as a former classic rock radio DJ didn’t recognize. Joel is my hero, his energy, jokes with the crowd, interaction with everyone in the audience and on stage shows why he is the consumate entertainer. I was also pleased that Joel performed “Scenes from an Italian Restaurant”, my all time favorite Billy Joel song that he doesn’t often do, I could have left right after that song. Each performed together at the start and end of the show plus played about an hour of their own music, the last scene of the concert was them playing together for the second time taking turns singing each others lyrics and it’s funny how in many cases Billy sings Elton songs better than Elton and vice versa. During this session they also did a few covers of Beatles songs including “Back in the USSR” and “Birthday”. Piano Man concluded the show, no surprise there, sung by both artists. Now on to the pics, not my best work, only had the chance to bring my little Nikon S610 into the show, but captured some good stuff, out of maybe 150 pics, these were the best, but I also got some video from the cam, which I am going to try to edit into a quick piece if it works and post it here. As always a click of the image takes you to the album. |
