DANE COOK

This is a special event post to the blogosphere people!

That’s Dane “eFing” Cook, yep we were there for the show Thursday night, it was M&M in the house and Dane was hysterical. My cheap camera takes the worst pics in low light, but I did manage to get some video of him coming on stage, it’s below, enjoy.

As usual the pre-sale password resulted in seats on the floor, the neat thing is that I kept it a total surprise from Miss M until we turned the corner for the stadium, then she figured it out since she had heard he was going to be performing tonight, damn terrestrial radio and while I’m at it damn you Perry the Platypus! (Some will get it)

Before the show M & M

So after the show we headed over the Yard House, we didn’t want to sit in traffic and it was a date night anyway so why not. We were lucky to score seats at the bar which were very hard to come by just a few minutes later and then the fun began!

What I’ve found is that Michelle, aside from being the world’s greatest actress/model, is really a perfect match for me, she’s the first person in over 20 years that lets me be 100% me and doesn’t try to tell me to tone it down or act like an adult or other rhetoric that I’ve had to put up with over the years that took my personality and buried it. Oh and she dishes it out just as fast as I do, who knew! Sometimes I find myself struggling to keep up with her!

We sat at the bar when a group of 6 twenty-something’s came up of which we met Tom and his non-girlfriend, a self proclaimed non-Scottsdale stereotypical brunette that we still have no idea what her name was. Thanks to Tom we had a great Mac & Cheese snack at the bar. The girl (who he’s not dating) wanted food, the bartender dropped it off right in front of us and Michelle gave up her seat for the girl to sit down, only thing is that there was a place setting in front of me and Michelle which I opened up and what did I find… a fork!!! So while the little drunk couple played and frolicked we ate their food, thanks Tom the Mac & Cheese hit the spot!

Oh I have to digress, the girlie came over and did introduce herself earlier and made a comment about Michelle which I responded, “well if you think she’s pretty, then kiss her” man I love my GF she took one for the team (by team I mean me)!

I did teach Tom how to get a bartenders attention and the attention of just about everyone in a crowded restaurant, he was having trouble getting a drink so I loudly did a “YO” which got not only the bartenders attention but everyone within a 25′ radius, including the people outside, Tom got his drink and he was thankful!

The night was a blast, the show was great, Yard House will probably not let us in there for a while and I can’t wait for our next Event!

Mensa, maybe or maybe not!

So my incredibly smart (Mensa smart) chica and I did movie night at the Tempe Marketplace Friday night and once again she stunned me with her brilliance!

UP-Link Productions was on the plaza to do the local Fox Sports Net show live and when we drove in she looked at the back of the truck and proclaimed (this is how she said it…) “U” Plink Productions, that’s an odd name, which I promptly corrected her and told her the way it was meant to be pronounced.

Now fast forward to after the movie, Night at the Museum was hysterical BTW, and as we’re leaving she translates the tag on the car in front of us, ‘SRCSTC’ the word has no vowels yet she is able to figure out SaRCaSTiC, OK how do you go from U-Plink spelled out in plain English to a license plate that you need a secret decoder ring to figure out, again MENSA or Idiot Savant with an emphasis on, well you know.

STAR TREK

Having grown up watching the original series (before it went into re-runs, yea showing my age again) there was no way that I was going to miss this movie on opening weekend and it didn’t disappoint!

JJ Abrams having not been a fan of the original series or movies was the perfect choice for the directors chair since he had no previous bias, the script and special effects, along with all the right catch phrases at all the right times made this 2:06 movie worth every popcorn kernel that I have to spend 2 hours in the gym working off.

To top the weekend, the surprise appearance by Chris Pine (Kirk), Zachary Quinto (Spock) and Leonard Nimoy on SNL last night really hit it. This movie is totally worth seeing, even for non-fans and a sequel is a must!

Speaking of sequels, SNLs Andy Samberg & Justin Timberlake finally did a sequel to “Dick in a Box” and it’s posted here, they did it again! I was pulling the video from NBC.com but the site is ragged, thank god for Hulu!

Mothers Day will never be the same again!
