Some of you know that this year I took up XC Skiing and have really fallen in love with it, as well some have thought it’s nothing more than simple skiing or snowboarding, I can say that it’s nothing at all like sitting in a chair lift, taking a 10 minute ride up a mountain and coming down without killing yourself.
XC is a workout, a major workout that involves using every part of your body and unlike downhill, XC is typically on trails (some groomed, some not) that in many cases are laid out in 5km and 10km runs that tend to be mostly uphill!
I spent another day at the Flagstaff Nordic Center today and the groomed trails were basically crap and ice, so I did what cross country is all about, I took off and made my own trails, which was the best. I think that at the end of the day I shed 5 pounds of water weight and all my clothes were totally soaked!
